BOOK MAIL ~ Send Your Favorite Book to a Stranger! 1

I don’t know about you, but I know that I am always so excited when I get book mail. But what if you could get someone else’s favorite book – not receiving something you chose?

I’ve been seeing this amazing thing going around the internet recently and I’m currently a part of it too!

Yes, there are some reports that versions of it are hoaxes and ‘illegal’ due to promising a high return, see here, which is why I don’t promise you anything. It is just to share your love of books and if you’re lucky you’ll get some great books in return!

What you do is, if you’re interested, choose your favorite book and send it to a complete stranger! Who knows where you’ll be sending your favorite book to!

The book doesn’t need to be brand new also! Gently used ones are always perfect to send!

Amazon has some perfect copies of almost any book for only a few dollars, if you’re a little tight on money, or you can splurge and get a fantastic edition of your favorite novel.

Send it away with some little bites and pieces and wait to hear back, or just know that whoever received it will really enjoy the gift!

Here’s what you need to do to join in!

  1. Comment down below that you’re in! If you don’t want to comment, then either send me a tweet (@mlwco) or email me at mylibrarycardworeout [at] gmail [dot] com!
  2. I will send you the name and address of an individual to send your favorite book to. What you send is completely up to you. Please be respectful and keep all book appropriate!
  3. You will share this ‘book mail chain’ on all of your social media. Either share this blog post and tell them to comment who sent them, or make your own up and share it. I will then send you an address to have your next recipient send their books to.
  4. You will tell that individual to pass the chain along!
  5. When you receive books, let me know what you get and share some pictures!

It’s a pretty straight forward process. I absolutely love the idea! Now, once again, I will say I cannot promise how many, if any, you will receive back. I didn’t mind because I just loved to share books with others. I don’t need anything back. Just keep in mind, while you send, you are not guaranteed anything back. BUT, I’d be happy to send a few out, because why not!!!

5 FAVORITE LITERARY FIRST LINES 1

First lines are what get a readers attention. It’s one of the first things you see when you open the book so it needs to draw the reader in.

For me, besides the cover, it can really turn me off from a book. So a strong first line starts me, personally, down a good path.

Check out my 10 favorite literary first lines.

1.

“The seller of lightening rods arrived just ahead of the storm.”

– Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury

2.

“Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.”

– Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

3.

“Fair is foul, and foul is fair: Hover through the fog and filthy air.”

Macebth by William Shakespeare

4.

“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.”
