How to Train Your Dragon

by Cressida Cowell

I just had to get this book reviewed before the movie comes out!

Summary

*Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III was truly extraordinary Viking Hero, Warrior chieftain, awesome sword-fighter, and amateur naturalist. He was known throughout Vikingdom as “the Dragon Whisperer,” on account of his power over the terrifying beasts.

But is wasn’t always like that………….

*This summary is from the back of the book. It was copied just so you know.

Review

At a glance this book seems dull and boring because there is a lot of red on the front and a green thing. But once you take the time to study it you see the green this is actually a dragon and the front looks like an old diary and has claw marks on it. The pages are frayed to look old and ragged and the illustrations are juvenile.  Someone inexperienced like Hiccup. But after reading it it became my favorite books a couple of years ago. This book is about how Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III and his dragon became famous (in a way.) He was the son the the Viking Warrior Chief so he had to honor his fathers position and match him. Then the day came when they had to choose their dragon from the cave. Hiccup choose this really baby-ish one and everyone made fun of him even his father. They did this because they did not think the dragon could do much. But how wrong they were. Toothless (the dragon) saved Hiccup’s life and after that the dragon was not ever looked at as a little baby. She (yes Toothless is a female) was in a way kind of fierce and brave.

The book has other little bits to it but if I told you them I would give the whole book away because the book is not extremely big.

I really have to say that this book was really good and I know that I say that about a lot of books (that is my nature) but this one was extraordinary. It was out of the world. I have to say I give it 2 tails, I, I mean thumbs up.
