Review

So honestly, I hated this TV show. Sure, it was pretty entertaining and a decent TV show as just a show, but since it was based on a short story I had pretty high expectations for the show. But of course, I never go into it too excited because they always seem to mess up these shows…

I did really enjoy the movie and while the ending was pretty different from the book, it was still well done.

I don’t know about this TV show though. I really hated the actors that they chose for the roles. Of course most of them were just so pretty and too perfect and I just hated that kind of stuff. And what was it about the daughter being immune?? Like what?! Where the hell did that come from? That was never in the book and wasn’t answered.

Like of course the TV ended with SOOOO many questions not being answered, and was angled for a season 2, but I don’t really want a season 2. It’s supposed to leave lots of questions in the air and all of that stuff, but you KNOW that the producers, if it will make them money, is going to make a second season.

But I don’t know…

The show was pretty gruesome. While the movie was only an hour and a half of some creepy stuff, and blood, the TV show was 10 episodes of that. I don’t know, it just didn’t sit well with me in the entire TV show. It was entertaining and I finished the entire season, but would I watch it again? No. Will I watch season 2? Probably, just because I’m curious.

But if you were thinking that the TV show was going to stick to the short story, then you will be utterly disappointed, because very little actually stuck to the short story.

Overall, I mean it was a decent watch, and if you have Netflix, maybe worth checking out. But it you were looking for it to be close, then probably don’t waste your time on it. There’s so many other great King movies/tv shows out there currently.

Happy Watching!!!

[Movie Review] Transformers 5: The Last Knight (2017)

I honestly don’t think that movies can get any bigger than this one. I mean we had explosions left and right, we had  Transformers dying, we had the most epic of cars (from the classic to the new, from the badass to the exotic), we had supernatural beings, we had plants eating other planets…I mean Michael Bay literally has the best job ever. He probably just says, “How in the world can I f@%& stuff up beyond anyone’s wildest dreams?” I aspire to be him!

So, visually this movie was stunning. The graphics were incredible and the explosions were big. So it was a big movie! The colors were vivid, so it had the slightly larger-than-life feel but it was never too far out there that it was totally unrealistic (I mean, Transformers are totally real guys! I park Bumblebee in my garage).

The music, ONCE AGAIN, was absolutely superb. Steve Jablonsky is amazing when it comes to soundtracks. Since day one of Transformers 1, all of those years back, he has impressed me. This one did not disappoint. I love listening to the music while I study, or while I write blog posts. It’s so beautiful and so epic. He really is a master when it comes to capturing the scene/moment and turning it into notes. The music created an air that added to the movie, per usual.

The story itself was pretty good too. It had a few moments in the beginning like…where is this going? But then it would tie together. There were a few moments that I could tell that they had cut a few scenes out, as a person would show up and you wouldn’t know how they got there, and an explanation would be left out, but it didn’t detract from the movie for me. They had to do it because the movie was 154 minutes long. I mean that’s a long movie. It honestly didn’t feel like it though. Transformers 4 felt like it was long and had moments that it felt like it should have ended but it kept going, however this one kept you engaged.

There was some fantastic comedy too! The British Transformer butler, Cogman, was absolutely hilarious! I mean he was a great Transformer to put in it. Hot Rod, another new character, though you didn’t get to see tons of him, was a pretty funny Transformer as well. Then you had Anthony Hopkins. I mean this guy is incredible (he’s not a Transformers).  I always see him play this very classy character, and in no movies really like this. Sure, he was in Silence of the Lambs, but this was just tons of action and I wasn’t sure what to expect from him. But he gave a great performance! He was classy and funny and just a joy to watch! I absolutely loved him in the movie!

The banter between Cade and Vivian was pretty good as well. Of course there was a very slight amount of romance there, but nothing that detracted. They mostly were just bickering back and forth which was hilarious.

All the Autobots, and Decepticons, got upgrades and were sexy as heck! So it was nice to see them as their original cars, but modernized!

Honestly I loved this movie. It may be up there as one of my favorite Transformers movies (however there was no Ironhide – once he died…the series all got a little dimmer (he was my favorite Autobot)). I highly recommend watching it if you like the series.

Have you seen it? What did you think?

Happy Watching!

Movie Review: A Monster Calls (2016)

Review

So first off I went through almost half a box of tissues on this movie. IT ABSOLUTELY KILLED ME. I literally don’t think a movie has hurt me as much as this movie hurt me. It was just so damn sad! But so beautiful at the same time!

The movie stayed really close to the book which made me really happy! I mean besides the ending which just closed the movie, it was quite literally the book in movie format. I was kind of worried that they were going to change things or stray from the book because if you did with a book like this, it would have lost the entire meaning, and purpose, of the book. So I was really happy that it stayed so close to it!

Next, all of the stories told in the book, the teachings from The Monster, were really cool as well. They were these water-coloring scenes that added this fantastical element to it. It was an incredibly creative idea.

As for the cinematography, it was incredible! Visually, this movie was beyond stunning. However, I don’t think I will be watching it again, or at least for a long time to come. This was a movie you probably only watch once or twice, just because of what the movie is about. It was a very painful experience and it left you needing something that would make you feel happy afterwards. I unfortunately didn’t so I just felt depressed for the rest of the day honestly.

Now, you may be reading this review and thinking, “then why the hell would I watch a movie as depressing as this?” Because it was such an experience. I learnt so much about acceptance and that it’s okay to feel how Connor did in the movie.

There was also one scene which really struck me. When the mother was dying and it was time for ‘the talk’, Connor was unable to say anything. You could see that he was extremely angry and upset and unsure what to do. The mum said to him something along the lines of, ” do not worry. When you look back on this moment in a few years and realize that you didn’t say anything to me, anything you wanted to say, just know that I already know it all.” Essentially it was saying that even if you cannot say you love someone who is dying, if you showed it to them in your life, then they already know. It was also a wonderful way to know that when someone is a child and unable to express what they feel, parents know all! It was such a scene and really resounded with me.

Honestly, I do recommend watching this movie. But read the book first. It’s not a difficult read and together, they are beautiful.

I was sad to see how many people haven’t seen it, nor heard of it. It was just so incredibly powerful and think that everyone should see it. Yes, it’s tough, but dealing with these situations can be. And the movie was just…I honestly struggle putting into words what it was to me. This will be in my memory forever as one of the few movies that really had a profound impact on me. This is not a movie to really sit down and enjoy but to just experience.

Happy Watching and don’t forget your box of tissues.
