Fear No More The Heat O’ The Sun ~ William Shakespeare

April 23 is the day celebrated as the possible birthdate and known death date for the Bard, William Shakespeare. Coinciding with St. George’s Day (the dragon slaying patron saint of England) this is a day that must acknowledge Shakespeare’s immense contribution to poetry and prose.

Fear no more the heat o’ the sun

Fear no more the heat o’ the sun,
Nor the furious winter’s rages;
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone, and ta’en thy wages:
Golden lads and girls all must,
As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.
Fear no more the frown o’ the great;
Thou art past the tyrant’s stroke;
Care no more to clothe and eat;
To thee the reed is as the oak:
The scepter, learning, physic, must
All follow this, and come to dust.
Fear no more the lightning flash,
Nor the all-dreaded thunder stone;
Fear not slander, censure rash;
Thou hast finished joy and moan:
All lovers young, all lovers must
Consign to thee, and come to dust.
No exorciser harm thee!
Nor no witchcraft charm thee!
Ghost unlaid forbear thee!
Nothing ill come near thee!
Quiet consummation have;
And renownèd be thy grave!

“How To Make Shakespeare Silly”

Reading Shakespeare can sometimes be difficult, especially for those who haven’t read it before or those of the younger generation as they aren’t used to tat language style or long sentences. So BookRiot came up with a few ways that you can make reading Shakespeare more silly and even make it more fun to read. I think that they are really cute ways and will honestly help!

Shakespeare is very challenging to digest for all ages and finding a way to make some of his stories – which are absolutely fantastic – understandable and fun is a great thing in my book!

William Shakespeare – The Anniversary

April 21, 2016 commemorates the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare. A writer of such stature who was able to leave the world an enormous collection of poetic plays and historical accounts it leaves you breathless. A giant in the literary world.

Here is a little round up of some events paying a tribute to the Bard. To commemorate this special date the Royal Mail has commissioned a set of stamps honoring him.

The Royal Mint has created several commemorative coins for this special occasion. No doubt these will be serious collectors pieces, but be careful not to spend them!

While there why not check out the coins commemorating HRH Queen Elizabeth 2 90th birthday?

This is just a small number of special things occurring to honor William Shakespeare. For now.

In honor of this day here is a little rewind of previous Shakespeare posts to refresh your memory about the man’s greatness.

A sonnet by Shakespeare.

A sonnet read by Kim Cattrall.

Twelfth Night.

How to celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday. Or save this for Saturday.

Romeo and Juliet.

Don’t know where to start? This will help.

Whatever you do read, listen or watch some Shakespeare. And be staggered at his genius.

Romeo and Juliet on Broadway! OMG!

So I went to see Romeo and Juliet on Broadway yesterday and BOY WAS IT AMAZING!

Like, Orlando Bloom was Romeo and I think I died. I even got an autograph and to see him up close (he was literally an inch in front of me!)

If you happen to be in the NYC area and can find time to go and see this play, please do! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

(yes Orlando gets shirtless for a few minutes <3)

I will try to get some pictures up soon, if WordPress decides to be nice and let me 😛

I will also do a review of the play as well but I just have to let you know about it as it does finish December 8th, so if there are still tickets available, you should definitely go and see it!
