Review

This movie was absolutely fantastic. It was scary, but not gruesome scary, which I really am not into. There was a little bit of blood, and a few deaths, but it was more jump scares and they did a good job. It really brought back your fears of the dark from when you were a kid.

I always had this kind of fear that I’d turn the lights out and I’d see something but when the light were on it would disappear and this movie definitely brought them back. It is nice to know that grown men were jumping in the movie theatre as well. I was proud that I didn’t scream once…or jump. But my heart beats were off the chart. I was quite stressed but it was a really good movie.

There was a good story to it and it didn’t end in the way that you thought it was going to. The entire time I was curious as to how the movie was going to end because there was no clear cut way to be dealing with the creature which was terrorizing the family, but in the end you just sat there like “what…oh..” It was a clean ending but not really expected.

The filming was really good as well. It was quite simple and a very dark movie overall. A lot of the movie was spent in the dark with the creature there or the creature living in the dark corners of areas and it was quite an interesting idea with what they had done. The whole idea of this creature only existing in the dark was creative and not something I’ve really come across before.

I’ve only recently started to get into horror movies a lot more and I have to say that this one was really good. For story I would say a 4/5 and for scare factor, I would say 5/5. It kept you on your toes, you weren’t sure what was going to happen and when something would jump out. There were a few moments I was so ready for something to pop out and nothing did and your heart was racing for nothing. So you never knew when something would really jump out and when something wouldn’t.

To say I was a little afraid to turn the lights off later that evening is an understatement. That’s how you know a movie did its job!

Overall I really did enjoy the movie and do recommend watching this. It’s a perfect, absolutely perfect, Halloween movie. And probably will watch it again around then.

It is based off a short which is on YouTube and I posted it below. But once again, viewer discretion is advised. It made me jump…And the movie is clearly based off of this kind of idea. It just takes it way further.

So go out and enjoy it at your local movie theatre if you have nothing else to do this weekend and just want to go out and relax..well kind of relax.

Review

Now, this was definitely an interesting movie. I will start off by saying that I haven’t seen the Alien series so I cannot say whether any questions and such were answered from how Alien was set up, so I have quite a blank slate to work off of. Prometheus is a prequel to the Alien series so it sets up what happened before it and how the actual alien creature came to be: some serious rapid evolution.

Now the locations in which this was filmed was fabulous. I mean the settings were absolutely beautiful.

And the graphics? Don’t even get me started. They were flawless. I mean, in some movies you can tell, such as like Godzilla (2014) because Godzilla is clearly a CGI, you can just tell. With this kind of movie, the placement of CGI was flawless and honestly it was beautiful. The makeup was also incredible as well.

Now the sets followed the traditional Alien concept done by H.G. Giger. Giger did help make the sets for Prometheus and passed away 2 years later (1940-2014).

I mean, I was just in love with the visual effects. It was absolutely amazing and I personally couldn’t get over it. The music as well. As a musician I love music and I LOVE soundtrack music and this soundtrack is so nice. It’s simple but it builds and works the suspense in certain areas as well.

The story line was also intriguing. There were quite a few tense moments in the movie and it was a little…gruesome I guess you could say, but overall it wasn’t terrible. For a R movie, there was only one F-bomb and it was beautifully placed, actually making you burst into laughter: it lightened the mood.

This movie definitely was for an older and more mature audience (probably 16 or older (by modern standards but personally 18 or older)) but it was very enjoyable, never the less. I do recommend checking it out if you haven’t yet and you don’t have to have seen the Alien serious, or follow-up with it (as far as I know), as according to my mother, when she did some reading, it can be viewed as just a stand alone movie so just watch that one and enjoy.

I’m still praying for a second movie to come out, but doubt that it will as I’m not sure how well it did in the Box-Office. I’m just hoping that there will be one…HOPE WITH ME xD.

Summary

An American research station in Antarctica come across a dog who a group of Norwegians had been pursuing, trying to kill it. The Norwegians are all disposed of because of an accident of their own doing but the dog they went after survives. But why fly all that way and threaten other humans lives to kill a dog? It quickly becomes clear that there was a reason behind it when the dog turns into something terribly inhuman. The Doctor finds that the cells of whatever the dog had become is able to imitate and take on shapes of any living organism and then the question arises, who is human and who is not? Quickly it becomes a fight for their lives and a battle against this inhuman organism to stop it from spreading out to the human population as if it did, the world would end as we knew it.

Review

This movie was fabulous, and scary, and classic, and overall I just loved it. After 3 years of begging to see it, thinking that I was ready, I was finally able to see it and boy was it good. It’s not like the scary that modern-day movies are, where you are literally almost leaving your skin in fright, but this made your heart race at certain moments and yes, it did have quite a few gruesome moments.

It was definitely different from other movies because instead of there being CGI (even though it wasn’t really invented at the time of this movie) the scary creatures were actually made and were animatronics. That just gave the movie a whole new level of cool to see what they were able to do with models and such.

This movie is definitely a classic but I agree with being older to see this. Yes, it doesn’t really compare with modern movies and as a lot of teens see modern horror movies at such a young age, this probably will not even compare up, but still, I believe you need to be at least 16 to see this movie, preferably 18. This isn’t just scary, but it does have some gruesome moments, and even though you know it’s fake, with the suspense which had previously been built, it was a little…intense?

The story line was quite decent and definitely held up over time and even my parents think so. Even though this movie is so old, I think that it will definitely still be seen for a long time to come as it is a class. There was a remake of The Thing made in 2011 and I heard that that one was quite good and was similar, but definitely a lot scarier and more gruesome and I will hopefully be watching that some time soon to be able to get a good comparison up.

Overall it was a very enjoyable movie. This is a Halloween movie or even a winter movie as it is based in Antarctica and there is lots and lots and LOTS of snow. But no, this is not warm and fuzzy at all, unless you consider burning bodies ‘warm’ and fuzzy. xD

I recommend this movie as it is a classic but I do warn you, it is intense and not a movie for everyone.

Review

Wow…just wow. Honestly this movie scared the living CRAP out of me. It was REALLY well done, not bringing in any of the gruesome things which most horror movies just SEEM to need to have (such as SAW (do not watch if you dislike blood and torture)). This played on your real life fears of things that scared you such as clowns/dolls, doors opening on their own, and things which just scared the living bejeezus out of you.

I can honestly, and happily, say that I left my seat about two times from jumping, and successfully screamed once. My dad even had the hairs on his arms stand up, which is quite hard to do. It was such a successful movie that I couldn’t sleep and then my dad just HAD to scare me by placing our old, and creepy, clown under my pillow. I nearly had a heart attack and it wasn’t funny. BUT, we still had a good laugh.

I couldn’t breathe after the movie and my heart was in my throat but it wasn’t so scary that you felt sick. There was almost NO special effects and I really liked that.

It’s a great Halloween movie but DON’T watch it alone, otherwise it will not end will for anyone. I would walk around my house with a knife and lock myself in a closet or something x.x

But anyway, overall it was REALLY well done. It is rated R and fits its rating, so I suggest that you be at least 16 to see this movie. I saw younger kids watching it, and know of them see it, and this was NOT appropriate.

But definitely check this out tomorrow or even watch it during Halloween. ^.^
