Review

Wow. So my mom had us watch this movie as I completely forgot about it coming out..as there have been so many and had never seen this. Boy, I don’t know what I hadn’t seen it sooner! It was sooooooooo good! There was ass kicking, a little subtle romance, epic driving/motorcycle sequences and tons of spy stuff. I mean, duh.

This movie follows the traditional Mission Impossible franchise but with a slight twist. Instead of them taking a mission as per every other movie, they are hunting the person who has been behind many of the issues that have occurred through the series. The Syndicate.

It was kind of interesting seeing everything fall together beautifully and connect as well as Hunt meeting his true rival and near match.

There were some serious nail biting scenes, whether it be from the massive motorcycle chase which occurred at top speeds to the underwater scene which had be stressed out as hell. But the acting was great per usual.

Honestly, there isn’t much to say about this movie as it fits in perfectly to the franchise as all the movies follow a similar model, except with a few twists.

All I can say is if you liked any of the previous Mission Impossibles, then you’ll like this one as well because it was similar to all the other ones just with a little more…umph.

Check it out and let me know what you think because I will definitely be watching this one again soon!

Enjoy!

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny (2016)

A Netflix Original!

Starring

Donnie Yen – Meng Sizhao/Silent Wolf
MIchelle Yeoh – Yu Shu Lien
Harry Shum Jr. – Tiefang
Jason Scott Lee – Hades Dai
Natash Liu Bordizzo – Snow Vase

Summary

“Another life-altering quest, another struggle between honor and lust for power, another generation of warriors forging alliances and enmities. The adventure, romance, and artistry of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon continues in this novelized companion to the first ever Netflix debut film,Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny based on the novel by Wang Dulu.

Seventeen years after the legendary fighter Mubai dies protecting the world-conquering sword The Green Destiny, four great warriors are called together to guard the formidable weapon once more. The forces surrounding the sword irrevocably altered the life of Shulien, Mubai’s lover, but seventeen years later she is still honor-bound to defend the blade from the power-hungry warlord Hades Dai. The young fighters Wei-fang and Snow Vase, switched at birth, also have heritages and inheritances that inextricably link them to both each other and the fate of the sword. And Silent Wolf, Shulien’s former fiancé, returns from presumed death to thwart Hades Dai—and rekindle an emotionally isolated Shulien’s feelings.

Jam-packed with all the hallmarks of an epic adventure—sacrifice, battles, betrayal, vengeance, redemption, and destiny—this saga also explores the deeper meaning of true heroism and virtue. As Wei-fang and Snow Vase search for identity and forge their places in the world of warriors and heroes, Shu-lien and Silent Wolf struggle to reconcile both the traditions and heartbreak of the past with a fragile hope for the future.”

Review

This movie was absolutely fantastic! I remember seeing the first movie a long time ago and not understanding a single thing which was going on, but I know now it was because it was a foreign film and I was too young to understand everything happening. But I am definitely going to revisit the last movie because this was absolutely fantastic. And there are quite a few aspects which I totally loved.

The cinematography was beautiful! It was set in Ancient China so the sets were the traditional homes with the paper doors and wood carvings, and beautiful swords. There was a lot of night scenes and the lighting from the fires placed in the scenes was fantastic and really added another aspect to what was going on.

The fighting was absolutely spectacular as well. There wasn’t much blood and the little bit that there was was perfectly placed for the scene. But the fighting scenes were incredible. The sword fighting was terribly intricate, the hand-to-hand combat was jaw-dropping, and the general ass-kicking was on point. Those are fighting goals if I ever saw any.

Since it is on Netflix you could watch it in Chinese with American subtitles but the actual movie was filmed in English so you don’t have to worry about reading subtitles unless you want to. I tried with the Chinese but it was more annoying seeing that their mouths didn’t match up so in the end I just stuck to English.

Overall, I thought that this movie was absolutely fantastic and beautiful and I will be watching it again with my family soon because I’ve been raving about it.

Definitely check this one out and let me know what you think because…wow. Just wow.

Review

So I’ve seen this movie a few times, but on my computer, and I must not have viewed the entire movie through, like I skipped around through the movie (as it is quite intense) so apparently I missed huge chunks of it. But I finally watched it all the way through, and survived, and I have to say it was quite a good movie. Though it did end in a way that makes me really want to have a second movie come out, though I doubt that that is going to happen, sadly. BUT! They are making a second Incredibles after 12 years, so I have until 2022 to hope. They ended it in a way that you just want some questions answered and the story to continue because there were so many ways that the movie could have been taken.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable movie. The idea behind it was kind of the idea behind other movies to do with demons (or maybe books, not sure because I blend everything together nowadays) but they twisted it in a way that was an original idea.

The theme of the movie was, essentially, a quote which Michael said.

“You’ll give him what he asks for. I’ll give him what he needs.”

And it was essentially about how Michael and Gabriel were trying to carry out Gods orders due to a child and the different ways that they went for it. God had apparently lost faith in humanity though Michael still saw humanity as it had been when it was created, even though their was evil within the world.

I will say that it was quite a tense movie and there were a lot of F-bombs throughout it. There was also quite a good amount of violence and blood. And it was very, very dark. The entire movie, when there was brightness, was in a sepia kind of color, but the majority of it was filmed at night.

Sex wasn’t an issue in the movie, but it definitely was a violent R and it was extremely nail-biting. So this is definitely a 18 of older movie. But with modern day teens, I guess 16. But I’m old-fashioned so I’ll stick with the 18 or older personally.

It was definitely a good movie, but I wouldn’t watch it more than about 5 times or so due to the fact that the storyline really didn’t leave a lot to watch again for, but it was a good movie to watch once in a while. Maybe once a year around halloween or something.
