Review

I. Just. Can’t. Contain. Myself.

IT WAS TOO PERFECT.

Yes it was a Michael Bay so there were a few sequences of fighting which was….epic, but over all it wasn’t terribly explosiony (I made a word up…yes xD).

The animations of the turtles were beautiful as well. I would have liked their faces a little less human looking, but over all, I honestly can’t complain. I’m really happy about their size and how they made them taller than humans because in some of the TV seasons of TMNT they were shorter than adult humans and it just wouldn’t have worked.

There were a lot of comical moments which appealed to all ages. Some jokes could be taken for two different ages; children taking it as one meaning while adults taking it a completely different way.

And probably, one of THE funniest scenes in the movie. No, it isn’t spoilers…as far as I know xD. Just some funny stuff.

The movie was short, only about 1 hour and 40 minutes long and it was happily a simple story line. It took the general idea of TMNT with The Shredder and the mutagen but twisted it slightly so they could make it more realistic and used that.

Overall…IT WAS JUST TOO PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes I have been a fan of this show for a little while (a few years) and so this movie was perfect. I’ve literally had a count down on my laptop for about 2 years….and when it started counting down by the days…I couldn’t wait. So of course I had to see it the day it came out.

Yes….my couple of friends and I (one of whom is obsessed as well, the rest we dragged along) were the oldest in the audience. The rest were little boys with their parents. But we didn’t care xD. We wore our green shirts or pants with pride, and my friend wore her mask. xD Nerdy…but so much fun!

If you were a fan of the TV shows as a child or like the TV shows now, I’d honestly suggest to go and see it. I thought April would be portrayed badly as Megan Fox is always made to play a ditzy role, but this time she was given a decent role. She was actually smart and actually kicked some serious ass, surprisingly, which was quite nice.

So go and see it as it just came out! It was soooo good…and I think I’m gonna go see it again. xD

Sleepy Hollow Season 1

But there are those who can stop the Apocalypse, Moloch, and the creatures that Moloch sends to cause fear and destruction. But will the clues that be dropped be solved? And what about the two prophecies?

Review

I haven’t really been a big fan of Fox recently, with the only show that I was interested in being Bones, but then they came out with Sleepy Hollow and my mind was officially blown. For a TV show it is incredibly well done. The story line is also amazing as well. There is a new demon or creature almost every episode and sometimes they are pretty freaky.

This TV show is definitely for a more mature audience (that’s why it’s rated TV-14) as there is quite a lot of violence with the demons and such. The show kept me interested and the plot twisted and turned the ENTIRE time. You never knew what was going to happen right up until the last 5 minutes of the season finale. MIND! BLOWN!

The season finale, which was 2 hours, was amazing and so many things happened and it really reminded me of an American Horror Story episode or something like that that. It was pretty freaky but it was amazingly well done. I can’t say more than that in fear of revealing something. O.O

The settings in the TV show were quite amazing as well. There is a lot of flashbacks to Cranes previous life during the American Revolution. In addition to that I love how they mix history into this story making General Washington some type of zombie or something like that ( can’t explain it in full details in fear of disclosing some information).

I have never really been a fan of these types of TV shows before. I usually stick to the Crime TV shows (Hawaii Five-O, Criminal Minds) but this one was an exception. It was amazing. The filming is really well done and the characters are great as well. There is character development which doesn’t really happen in many of these big budget TV shows.

Honestly I cannot give anything away about the story as if I do I’ll spoil some episode or something so I can only say this, you need to check this out. If you like the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, then this will put a nice twist to it. Most of the episodes can be seen on Fox.com or you can wait a few months for the season to come out on DVD. But let me know what you think because I personally love this series and will be counting down the days until the return of season 2.

How much longer do I have to wait until the fall? :/

Review

This book was exciting and really kept you entertained. It was definitely a page turner and a couldn’t put it down book. This book was by Stephen Davies who also wrote Hacking Timbuktu which was also a really great book.

The cover of this book was very similar to Hacking Timbuktu which was why I thought it may be a series, but unfortunately this was a completely different story. There were some similar story lines in a sense because there were the gadgets and there was some parkour in this book but that was the only similarity.

This book was set in modern-day as there were cell phones and some unmanned flying machine. I thought that this book portrayed life in Africa, where they was going back to visit his parents, was quite accurate and it showed what the life was like there. You also got to see both sides of life. The life of a diplomat and the life of eating gold leaf and then the life of an outlaw, hence the title.

The book is a definite read and I recommend you reading the other one of his books too.

The realistic results could be a new genre, the grim popcorn thriller; often you feel like you’re watching Schindler’s List more than Spielberg’s other thrill-machine movies (Jaws, Jurassic Park). The film centers on Ray Ferrier, a divorced father (Tom Cruise, oh so comfortable) who witnesses one giant craft destroy his New Jersey town and soon is on the road with his teen son (Justin Chatwin) and preteen daughter (Dakota Fanning) in tow, trying to keep ahead of the invasion. The film opens and closes with narration from the novel read by Morgan Freeman, but Spielberg could have adapted Orson Welles’s words from the famous Halloween Eve 1938 radio broadcast: “We couldn’t soap all your windows and steal all your garden gates by tomorrow night, so we did the best next thing: we annihilated the world.”

Review

This movie was really good but pretty creepy. There was a lot of blood in this movie. I don’t mean blood like people got decapitated but the creatures machines would suck the blood out of you and then later you would see the machines expel large amounts of blood and there would be pools of blood all over the place. Quite disconcerting and quite creepy too. If your don’t like this type of thing, this movie may not be suited for you.

There was no good role modeling in this movie. Ray Ferrier was a very irresponsible dad. In the beginning he called his son all types of things. As the movie progressed he seemed to change and be more responsible because he realized if he did not buck up his ideas when he was going to die, along with his children and I don’t think he wanted that.

The acting in this movie was done really well. Dakota Fanning and Justin Chatwin both played the annoying and non-listening children. I got so annoyed with the children and the dad because the dad did nothing to make the children to shut up. But it probably portrayed a typical American family :).

This movie was filmed with a kind of tinge. I am not sure what the tinge was but it seemed to be a metallic, green, gray tinge to it which added to this surreal effect. It was quit an interesting idea because then it put everything kind of not in the present. It was showing that it was set a few years back.

Also the aliens were pretty creepy and the machines were creepy too. They were really big and they had these like tractor beams which disintegrated your body and pulled it up to the machine but left your clothes behind and Ray was eventually covered in body bits even though it was never explicitly mentioned, you got the idea. I am actually not sure if the beam pulled you up or just disintegrated you on the spot But don’t really want to know.

I think that this movie was done really well and is a definite see, but I recommend to be over the age of 14/15 because it was pretty creepy.

It was exciting though and definitely a classic which everyone should see at least once. I will be reading the book really soon and watching the original War of the Worlds which I am excited about. 🙂
