Review

I was pretty disappointed with this movie to be blunt. When I saw the first trailer for it I was a little iffy already but because it looked, visually, beautiful I hoped that it would get better. Then the movie came out and I didn’t hear much about it anywhere. Some of the soundtrack songs came up on Spotify at some point and I was cringing at the auto-tuning. It hurt my musical soul.

Visually, it was gorgeous.

Something about this movie was gorgeous. I mean it was colorful and lots of fantastical elements. It was based on a animation so that’s expected but it really did have some gorgeous moments. But to me, that was the only thing that it had that was good.

The music was….painful.

The songs are classic. I grew up with Aladdin and all of the other classic Disney animations and then this just destroyed it. Will Smith doesn’t really sing and they autotuned the hell out of him and everyone else. It just killed it honestly. I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t really notice it because music producers have gotten much better at autotuning but if you really know what you look for you can’t miss it. So that just killed the soundtrack for me.

The story-line was cringy as live action.

I’m not sure what it was about it because as far as I remember the story line was pretty much the same, but it was quite cringy to watch as live action. There was nothing new, just rehashing the old story as live action. And to me it was just awkward to watch. Not awkward as in inappropriate but it just seemed like the directors were trying to make the live action as the animation and it didn’t work.

Disney needs to stop with this live action stuff.

I love animations and I love live action as well. Some of these live action movies have been fantastic but with so many of the classics being made into live action now they’re doing it too fast. They’re making these movies for the sake of making them and to get more money.

The movie felt rushed. The animations were meh, the story was meh, the music was meh, the cast was meh. Honestly, I’m glad I watched it on my computer because I was able to skip through parts because it was just…crap.

I know that some people really liked it and it’s one to add to the collection, but I just couldn’t get into it and enjoy it.

Happy Watching!

Review

So while I was waiting for this movie to come out, watching the trailers and all, I was sooo excited. I was counting down the days for it to come out. Then, it was released and I started to hear mixed reviews about it. However, I still really wanted to see it as Beauty and the Beast is such an amazing Disney classic. But, now that I’ve seen it, I was slightly disappointed.

Now, don’t get me wrong, it was definitely enjoyable to watch, however the singing really bothered me. I LOVE Emma Watson, but she is clearly not a singer because she was always auto-tuned and you could really tell. This really bothered me. A big part of the movie is the music and almost all of the actors were able to sing as well as looked the part, however while Emma looked exactly like Belle is supposed to, she wasn’t able to sing that well and it really really killed the movie for me. So that was why I was disappointed.

However everything else was fantastic. The acting was really good, the costumes were fantastic and it kept quite close to the original movie however there were a few small differences. But it was nothing too severe that was different that it messed the movie up. It was still the same old Beauty and the Beast.

I will probably see it again because why not! I mean it was very good visually. My biggest problem, especially as a musician, was the music. They could have gotten someone else to sing the songs and just had Watson dub it probably as this has been done before. But the producers decided to stick it out…and it detracted from the movie significantly.

Would I pay to see it? No. Will I buy it? No. But I may borrow it from my library and watch it again when it comes out.

Overall, I had much higher expectations and am slightly disappointed.

Thankfully I still have my original to keep my happy.

Happy watching!

Goosebumps (2015)

Starring

Jack Black – Stine/Slappy/Invisible Boy
Dylan Minnette – Zach
Odeya Rush – Hannah
Ryan Lee – Champ

Summary

“When monsters are unleashed from their manuscripts & terrorize a town, it’s up to R.L. Stine, Zach & Hannah to get them back in their books.”

Review

I have to say that I was genuinely surprised with this movie. I honestly thought that it was going to be a little kid like and quite bad since I was never a massive fan of the books, but I have to say they did a great job.

It essentially took everyone of R.L. Stine’s book characters and had them come out of their manuscripts and terrorize a local town. Then a small team had to get them back into their books. The main “bad-guy” was Slappy who was one of R.L. Stine’s most famous Goosebump characters – a dummy.

I will say straight off the bat that it was a PG movie but I honestly felt that it should have been a little more PG-13 or the older end of PG because it was honestly quite creepy sometimes with some of Stine’s characters. It’s perfect for a teen, but since Stine’s books are more for younger kids, supposedly, that is the age that would have been watching it and I don’t necessarily agree with that but it’s whatever.

The CGI in the movie was quite good as well. It had a child-ish like feel to it making some of the creatures obviously from books but it was still fantastic.

It did have a nice story to it and a good moral in the end, like all kids movies do, and I do suggest checking it out.

Even if you haven’t read any of the Goosebumps books, it was still an interesting movie. And if you have read them, then it was awesome to see some of your favorite villains come alive!

I do suggest this as more of a Halloween season movie because it’s perfect for them and a good family movie as well.

Do check it out if you have some time and let me know what you think.

Happy viewing!

Johnny English

He thinks it is a ominous business man (John Malkovich) or a beautiful woman (Natalie Imbruglia) because she has an interest in what he is doing. Inkheart – Movie Review

This move stayed pretty darn close to the book. It was funny, it was creepy, it was weird, and it kept you entertained. It was atmospheric, and it was stunning. Brendan Fraser (who is in movies like Journey To the Centre of the Earth, and The Mummy) played the part of Mo like it was his natural self. I have to say that almost all of the characters were like I had imagined them. The only people who were not were Meggie, and Capricorn. The only thing about the movie that was the down side was that it did not have all of the details. The book was about 500 pages and it had a lot of detail. The movie just summarized parts of the book up consequently it was only a 1 hr 45 min. movie.

MPAA rating: PG (for fantasy adventure action, some scary moments and brief language).
Running time: 1:45.
Opening: Jan. 23.
Starring: Brendan Fraser (Mo); Paul Bettany (Dustfinger); Helen Mirren (Elinor); Jim Broadbent (Fenoglio); Eliza Hope Bennett (Meggie); Sienna Guillory (Resa); Andy Serkis (Capricorn).
Directed by: Iain Softley; written by David Lindsay-Abaire, based on the book by Cornelia Funke; photographed by Roger Pratt; edited by Martin Walsh; music by Javier Navarrete; production designed by John Beard; produced by Softley, Diana Pokorny and Funke. A New Line Cinema release.

But here is a tip from me. If you do not like things that have some a little scary things then this might not be the movie for you. There is not a lot of violence but it has fantasy violence. This move was really good and I would tell anyone that if they like fantasy, this is the movie for them.
